Thinking about making the switch to iOS 7? Maybe you should hold out a little longer.
According to reports, the zoom animations and motion effects iOS 7 includes are making people physically sick. Users are describing the sensation as akin to the motion sickness that occurs when one tries to read while in a moving vehicle.
Here are some comments from disgruntled iOS 7 users, compiled by the Register:
“The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache. It’s exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.”
“I have the same problem. After using it for two minutes, I felt nauseous.”
“I have the same problem. It hurts my eyes and makes me dizzy. So annoying that we can’t downgrade!!!! Really unhappy with Apple on this one :-(“
“I thought I was going crazy today after I updated my phone and I noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it. Now I see I am not alone! I just used my phone for about 20 minutes and now I feel like I’m going to vomit.”
If you’ve already upgraded and you’re experiencing the same type of dizziness and nausea reported by other users, there’s one thing you can try. According to ZDNet, going to Settings > General > Accessibility > and choosing “Reduce Motion” will alleviate some, but not all, of the motion sickness-inducing issues. Otherwise, you’ll just have to tough it out until a fix is released, or go back to iOS 6.
