Quantum computing is the current frontier of technological progress. Right now we’re impressed by the 8GHz overclock speed achieved by AMD, but that’s grade school when compared with the work that’s being done in Google’s quantum computing lab, which you can check out in the very well-paced documentary above. According to an article in The Verge,
Researchers hope the quantum architecture will eventually be used to optimize solutions across complex and interconnected sets of variables currently outside the capabilities of conventional computing. That could allow for new solutions in computational medicine or help NASA to construct a more comprehensive picture of the known universe.
